TIPO DI RICETTA: bread
CUCINA: Italian
PORZIONI: 6
INGREDIENTI
  • For the bread
  • 550 g of Manitoba flour
  • about 230 ml of milk
  • 40 ml of extra virgin olive oil
  • 30 g of granulated sugar
  • 10 g of salt
  • 10 g of fresh baker’s yeast
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • For the stuffing
  • 350 g of mild provola cheese (or other cheese, according to your taste)
  • 250 g of smoked ham
  • fresh aromatic herbs
COME PROCEDERE
  1. In a bowl, combine the milk, the sugar, the oil and the yeast. Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, sift the flour with the salt. Pour the flour, little by little, into the bowl with the liquid ingredients and mix well.
  3. Knead until you have a smooth and elastic dough. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp rag and let it rise for at least 2 hours in a warm place.
  4. When the dough is risen, divide it into little balls of about 30 g. Place a little ham and a little cheese in the centre of each ball and, according to your taste, add also some fresh aromatic herbs, finely minced.
  5. Reseal each ball and arrange them at intervals in a baking tin lined with baking paper.
  6. Cover again with a rag and let the bread rise for another hour, until the balls are just touching with each other.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  8. In a little bowl, beat the egg and a little milk and brush the surface of the Danube.
  9. Bake for about 1 hour, or until it is golden brown, and serve lukewarm.
