How to make Halloween candy apples, the perfect Halloween treat, the kids will love eating them, try them now!
  • 10/12 small red apples
  • 250 g of castor sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of glucose (or honey)
  • 120 ml of water
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • just the tip of a teaspoon of red gel food coloring
  • 1 l of boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar
  1. Pour the boiling water and the vinegar into a large bowl and leave the apples to soak for a few seconds.
  2. Dry them well.
  3. Take off their stalks and insert wooden sticks into the centre of each apple
  4. In a pot, combine sugar, glucose and water and bring the mixture to the boil WITHOUT stirring.
  5. Use a candy thermometer to check the temperature of the caramel and when it nears about 145/150°C, remove the pot from heat and add the food coloring and the cinnamon powder, stirring well.
  6. Tilt the pot and dip the apples in the caramel, rolling them quickly to coat evenly.
  7. Drain off the excess of caramel on a wire rack or on baking paper.
  8. Allow the apples to cool completely and… enjoy!!
Leaving the apples to soak in boiling water and vinegar is important to remove possible wax or other chemicals. And then, in this way, caramel adhere better to them.
