Delicious gooey chocolate brownies can be enjoyed fresh out of the oven or with a dollop of ice cream as dessert.
CUCINA: American
  • 180 g of caster sugar
  • 150 g of dark chocolate (70%)
  • 100 g of butter (or 80 ml of sunflower oil)
  • 80 g of plain flour
  • 20 g of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • salt, just enough
  • icing sugar (discretionary)
  • vanilla ice cream (discretionary)
  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C and line a squared tin (cm 20x20) with parchment paper, wet and squeezed.
  2. Melt the chocolate and the butter together in a double saucepan over a low heat (if you prefer to use oil instead of butter, just melt the chocolate and add the oil later). Remove from heat and add the sugar. Stir well until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Add an egg at a time mixing well after each addition.
  4. Sift the cocoa powder and a pinch of salt and add them to the mixture. Stir well.
  5. Fold the sifted flour into the cake mixture and stir until well combined.
  6. Pour the cake mixture into the prepared tin and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out with some moist crumbs.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely in the tin before removing and then cut it into small bite sized squares.
  8. On the basis of your taste, you can choose to sprinkle your brownies with abundant icing sugar and serve it with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  9. Enjoy!
